Housing Market Update 28/04/2017
Many of you who live in Hurlstone Park may not know yet about a fantastic new facility ready to be constructed.
As the President of the Canterbury/Hurlstone Park Chamber of Commerce, I have been closely involved with the development of a new community building at Tennent Parade right on the banks of the Cooks River.
Since the demolition of the old sporting club nearly ten years ago there has been extensive consultation about what type of building should replace it.
Finally, in 2015 it was decided that a combined community hall and cafe would be constructed with plans to commence last year. Unfortunately, council amalgamations put paid to those plans and we even reached a stage where there was a real risk the project may not have gone ahead.
However after several meetings with the new Canterbury-Bankstown Council and the much-appreciated assistance of the Cooks River Valley Association (and in particular the very determined Nadia Wheatley) it has finally been confirmed that the new building is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.
This is a huge win for the area. In eighteen months time, we will have a facility that not only caters to the local community with a brand new space for a myriad of purposes such as Mums and Bubs classes, yoga, pilates, social group meetings etc. but also an exciting new cafe.
And that is where I need your help. The Council has asked the Chamber of Commerce to assist in sourcing a tenant for this fabulous new venture. So if you know of anyone who may be interested please either reply to this email or contact me directly on 0412 465 567
Due to the very quiet residential nature of the surrounding area, the ideal operator we are seeking will work strictly within daytime hours from Monday to Sunday with the cafe having the capacity to cater for as many as 90 persons.
It really is a great opportunity for the right candidate so let us know.
