Sydney Property Market Update 18/05/2019
Well, have you all been "electioned" out yet?
Without being disrespectful to the highest public office in the land I think most of us here in Sydney will be happy not to be in the midst of campaigning of any sort after this Saturday.
With two separate six week campaigns at both the State and Federal level playing out almost back to back for the majority of the first half of the year it has been taxing(pun fully intended) on the most receptive of minds to keep paying full attention.
In fact, I have to ask the question, should an election campaign be that long anymore?
In a world where almost everything can be decided more quickly is it necessary to require six full weeks of media saturation before casting our vote?
A really strong indicator that it isn't, has been the amazingly large numbers of people who have already voted - over a million and counting!
What that tells me is a significant percentage of the population didn't need that long to figure out where their loyalties lie and have cast their ballot early and with confidence. It also probably shines a light on how busy our lives have become with many not having the opportunity to physically vote in their own geographical electorate on Polling Day due to both work commitments and travel. I know it's always a rushed exercise for yours truly either at the very beginning or last minute of a busy Saturday.
We have noticed the market starting to return to a more normal undistracted state where buyers appear to be getting on with things more confidently.
With interest rates now likely to drop soon and the traditional quieter Winter period nearly upon us where less vendors tend to choose selling, it will be interesting to see where prices go.
